Day three

by Paul on May 14, 2009

I think today I shall explore all the Twitter directories that are popping up. Let folk find me instead. OK, 2 million results to filter down. This could take a while!

Added myself to Twibs. Really orientated specifically at businesses but fits within the remit of this blogs purpose, yep!

Like Grader, Twitterholic is a good way to monitor your progress – I’ve a loooong way to go yet! : twitterholic.com/milliontwits

Nothing but common sense rules I automatically follow myself, but this Mashable post by Atherton Bartelby says it eloquently:
FOLLOW FAIL: The Top 10 Reasons I Will Not Follow You in Return on Twitter
He has over 1,000 retweets on it too. Nice!

On a related note, also on Mashable,  HOW NOT TO: Build Your Twitter Community. Needless to say, again, I fail on my face for the chasing followers (“My biggest pet peeve on Twitter is when people ask for more followers“).

On those points, clearly, this blog and moreso the associated Twitter account is purely about shamelessly building a following – specifically getting y’all to jump on a vacuous bandwagon, jumping on the end of the congo line – but, in the process I hope to teach folk what to do – and what NOT  to do to attract attention.
Off to find more people to follow. Yesterday was namesakes, today it shall be Wordpress Thesis theme users and advocates. (aff link: DIYThemes Thesis WordPress Theme)

Today stats :

  • Current rank with Twitter Grader is 482,121 out of 2,187,982
  • Current grade with them is 73/100
  • Followers 38
  • Following 96
  • Posts 34

The follower/following ratio would be a lot healthier but I added a number of admittedly distant relatives – and most of them blanked me. Family eh!
