Hmmm. need more focus on my strategy, both here and in general. After seven days of playing I reckon I’ve learnt all the tricks and in’s and out of using – and of abusing – Twitter and I have to say I wholly deplore many of the tactics I’ve seen deployed. Mostly it has to be said by affiliate market scum.
Absolutely nothing wrong with many affiliate schemes in themselves, employ a couple myself, but it has to be said many others are scams peddled by uncaring low-life parasites. I firmly place each and every Twitterer that has an affiliate link as THEIR ‘home page’ in this category.
Really need to get some developing done this week so for today I’m giving up trying to filters through all the spammers following me and blindly* follow a large number of the people following @allenjesson.
Why this person? Simply becuase of this RT by @JustTooBusy – who I followed on the basic I liked her name
JustTooBusy RT @allenjesson: The underlying premise of Twitter is to exchange interesting pieces of information with other people.
By *blindly follow I mean just that. Normally I will actually look at the profile, the type of twitters they use, their home page and … yes very time consuming. On my my ‘real’ twitter I only follow about 100 people or companies, several of which I’ve known for many years anyway.
If you didn’t already know, the way a lot of these programms work is to literally scrape 2,000 names a day. Generally – hopefully at any rate – it’s at least targetted. For marketters it can be extremely lucrative. That said, I have an extremely low (unprintable) opinion of most of these barrel scrapers!
Anyway, as I’m aiming from exponential growth of followers and this guy is all about getting followers, I’m going to follow a number of his on the basic I should, in theory, be all about that they want – what you want if you are reading this blog as a result!
Addenda – bar the clowns too lazy to even change their default image from
. Oh yes, and people with religion or politics as user names. To paraphrase @TheBloggess – “No, you people just don’t get to use Twitter!”
leesabarnes RT @SueFenwick: RT @StephanieFrank: Forget collecting massive followers. Build massive relationships. Reap massive rewards.
For me, for this account, no, but this is just an experiment. For everyone else, that’s very good advice you all should follow. Applies equally to the day to day running of any business. There’s a ages old adage that says the same: “Turnover over is vanity, Profit is sanity”
